There is a popular notion that only people who are gymming or are into body building need to consume a protein-rich diet. What we don’t know is that it is a necessity for all of us Indians as our diets don’t have enough protein content.

While they are rich in fats and carbohydrates, the food that we take is protein deficient.

And the major worry is that we even don’t know how much protein does our body needs for it to function properly. We are clueless about it. That awareness is important to make up for all the protein deficiency that our food isn’t able to fill up for.

How much daily protein do we need?

Ideally, healthy adults need approximately 0.8g per kg body weight/day of protein. Protein needs also vary based on the activity level.

People with sedentary lifestyle: Such people spend most of the day sitting. They either have desk jobs or are mostly stuck to TV, with minimal physical activity or performing only light household chores. People in this bracket need 1g of protein per kg body weight per day.

People with moderate lifestyle: Such people spend a good part of the day on their feet. They are engaged in activities of daily living (e.g. shopping, cleaning, etc.) or walking occasionally. These kind of people need 1.3g per kg body weight per day.

People with active lifestyle: Such people have physically demanding job like they they engage in sports or go to the gym or jog etc. Their protein requirement is 1.6g per kg weight per day.

How protein deficiency affects our health?

  1. Reduces body stamina: Protein deficiency can make you feel lethargic, fatigued and tired.

  2. Lack of concentration: You tend to feel stressed, and experience mental fatigue.

  3. Impaired immunity: You experience frequent bout of illness and slower recovery.

How to make up for protein deficiency?

A simple way is to consume a protein-rich diet. However, following such a strict diet is difficult and needs effort. So the other easier way is to include Protein Nutrition Drink in our daily routine to make up for lacking daily protein intake that isn’t fulfilled by our food. There are products available in the market like Nestle’s Resource High Protein that you can bank upon. Resource High Protein takes care of 37% of RDA (recommended daily intake/allowance) of protein. It has negligible sugar content (0.1%) as compared to other supplements in the market (15%-30% sugar). Available in tasty Vanilla flavor, its major source of energy is whey protein (78%).

So, make sure you consume the right amount of protein to stay healthy and fit.
