About R-Cinex Capsule

This medicine is used to treat bacterial infections such as leprosy, tuberculosis and Legionnaire's disease. R-Cinex Capsule is a combination of two antibiotics- Rifampicin and Isoniazid. It prevents the growth of microorganisms that cause the infection.

The capsule works by interfering and preventing the production of RNA by bacteria and also inhibits the synthesis of mycoloic acid. People with hypersensitivity to this drug are recommended to avoid it.

It is prescription medicine and to be taken as suggested by the doctor. R-Cinex Capsule should be taken in an empty stomach and taken at a fixed time regularly to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is a combination medication containing rifampicin and isoniazid. Rifampicin inhibits bacterial RNA polymerase which is the enzyme responsible for the transcription of DNA. It blocks the bond between nucleotides in the RNA backbone. Whereas Isoniazid is an inactive compound which is known as a prodrug. It needs to be activated by the catalase of bacteria. Once Isoniazid has been activated it brings about inhibition of the synthesis of the mycoloic acids.
