Lorchek Mr Gel

Lorchek Mr Gel belongs to a class of drugs called Oxicam. These drugs are non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory (NSAID). Lorchek Mr Gel is sold under the trade name of Xefo. It is used for providing relief in cases of swelling, arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondylitis. It can be taken orally or by injection or infusion.

On using Lorchek Mr Gel you may experience the following side effects: skin rash, headache, visual disturbance, sensitivity to light, dizziness, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, rapid or irregular heartbeat, kidney disorder, a rise in blood pressure, fever and difficulty in breathing. Should your side effects persist for longer durations and worsen over time promptly contact your health care provider. In order to avoid extreme side effects, certain precautionary methods you should ensure are informing your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to Lorchek Mr Gel or any other medicine, food or substance.
  • You are already taking any prescriptive or non-prescriptive drugs, herbal medications or dietary supplements.
  • You suffer from heart or kidney disorders.
  • You have Oedema.
  • You are pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding a baby.
  • You suffer from infections or asthma.

The dosage for Lorchek Mr Gel prescribed by your doctor depends on your age, gender, medical history and current medical condition. If you are taking Lorchek Mr Gel orally for pain relief, you are required to take 8-16 mg per day. In case you are being treated for Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis you are required to take 12 mg per day in two or three doses with equal intervals. If you are being given IV/IM injection, the dosage is about 8 mg once or twice a day. Interactions with certain drugs such as Vitamin K antagonists, Lithium, Methotrexate and Digoxin may have adverse effects.

In case of a missed dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is too late, skip it and have your regular dose. If you suspect drug overdose, notify your doctor immediately.

Pain Relief
This medicine is used to relieve pain of the muscles and joints.
This medicine is also used to relieve acute pain associated with diseases of joints and bones like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and Spondylitis.
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a history of allergy to Lorchek Mr Gel or any other ingredient present with it.
Oedema
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who have fluid retention disorder and have swellings in their body.
Heart diseases
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having a disease of the heart or the blood vessels.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having severe impairment of kidney function.
In addition to its intended effect, Lorchek Mr Gel may cause some unwanted effects too. In such cases, you must seek medical attention immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. Please inform your doctor if you experience any adverse reaction to the medication.

How long is the duration of effect?
The effect of this medicine lasts for an average duration of 24 hours.
What is the onset of action?
The effect of this medicine can be observed within 30 to 60 minutes of administration.

Use of this medicine should be avoided if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy in near future. Use of this medicine during the third trimester of pregnancy should be strictly avoided.

Are there any breast-feeding warnings?
Use of this medicine should be avoided by nursing mothers as the risk of adverse effects on the infant is high.
Missed Dose instructions
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose can be skipped.

Contact your doctor if an overdose with this medicine is suspected. Symptoms of an overdose may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and disturbance in vision.

Asthma Major
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients having any disease that obstructs the air waves leading to the lungs. Diseases like Asthma and COPD should be reported to the doctor before treatment with this medicine is initiated.
Cerebrovascular Oedema Major
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients having fluid retention diseases of the heart and other associated organs. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment after assessing your condition.
Heamorrhagic Disorder Major
This medicine should not be used in patients having internal bleeding as the risk of fatal side effects are very high. Your doctor will prescribe a suitable alternative medicine that is safe to use.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. In a diabetic patient invariably peripheral neuropathy does set in after a few years of that condition. It is seen even when blood glucose is well controlled. There are a few medications used to reduce the intensity of that condition like using methyl cobal amine, folic acid and lipoleic acid combinations and drugs like pragabalin or gabapentine are used. Dandruff can be due to many factors. Sometimes it can be due to nutritional deficiency like biotin, methyl cobalamins deficiency. Sometime it can be due to some infection or sometime it can be due to diseases like psoriasis. Initially you can Use ketoconazole and zinc pyrithione based shampoo twice weekly. Apply over the scalp and then leave it for 5 minutes and wash it off. Avoid oiling your scalp. You can oil and massage your scalp before head wash. If problem still persist then you can consult to a dermatologist for further assessment and management.

Parabens are not good in higher amount for health. Better to avoid. You can take vitamin E from natural sources like almonds, spinach, avocado, sweet potato, wheat germ, sunflower seeds etc. Try to include vitamin C in your diet for better repair of all body tissue s.

Even though there are so many types of drugs available, all of them cannot be used for the treatment of seizures. Doctors would evaluate the condition thoroughly before prescribing a medication that can be helpful in reducing the severity of the condition.

Parkinsonism is often mistaken for Parkinson's Disease. Though similar in quite a few aspects, yet Parkinsonism is not the same as Parkinson's Disease. Parkinsonism is a medical condition whereby the affected individual exhibits some symptoms identical to those observed in the case of a Parkinson's disease.

Factors that lead to Parkinsonism
Parkinsonism can result from a host of factors and health condition such as

  1. Increased and repeated exposure to toxic gases and substances, namely organic solvents, cyanide, manganese, or carbon monoxide.
  2. People suffering from the repeated head injury (as in the case of boxing or wrestling).
  3. The medications used in the treatment of psychiatric problems (antipsychotic medicines) or those used in treating nausea (Prochlorperazine or even Metoclopramide). Some of the antipsychotic drugs have the potential to interfere (block) with the activity of the neurotransmitter Dopamine resulting in parkinsonism.
  4. The use of MPTP (1-Methyl-4-Phenyl-1,2,3,6-Tetrahydropyridine), especially the oxidized product MPP+ (1-methyl-4-Phenylpyridinium) can wreck havoc resulting in parkinsonism and the associated symptoms.

Some of the medical conditions that can contribute towards Parkinsonism include

  1. Viral Encephalitis (resulting in acute brain inflammation).
  2. Alzheimer's Disease (a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that triggers cognitive and behavioral problems often accompanied with dementia).
  3. Multiple system atrophy (a progressive neurodegenerative disorder resulting in dysfunctioning of the autonomic nervous system and the voluntary movements).
  4. Progressive supranuclear palsy or Steele-Richardson-Olszewski syndrome (a rare disorder of the brain that interferes with the balancing, walking, and the eye movements of the affected person.
  5. Stroke or a brain tumor.
  6. Lewy body dementia (a condition triggered by the unusual accumulation of alpha-synuclein protein in the brain with the person exhibiting symptoms associated with both Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease).
  7. Wilson Disease (an autosomal recessive condition whereby copper starts accumulating in the vital organs including the liver and the brain).


Symptoms
In patients with parkinsonism,

  1. The muscles appear stiff. A person experiences a resting tremor (tremor that mainly affects one hand even when the muscles are relaxed), along with difficulty while walking or balancing their body. (These symptoms are also characteristic of a Parkinson's disease).
  2. Further, there may be early signs of dementia (loss of memory or forgetfulness). There may be Agnosia, Aphasia, or Apraxia
  3. Constipation, a dip in the blood pressure, difficulties in eating or swallowing of food.
  4. Hallucinations and loss of judgment (such as failing to locate the kitchen or bathroom at home).
  5. Unusual eye movements.

Ayurvedic Treatment
According to Ayurveda, Parkinsonism is a manifestation of the vitiation of the Vata Dosha (Wind energy) that takes place in the cranial nerves. Thus, corrective measures are followed to restore the balance between the Vata, Kapha, and Pitta Dosha.

  1. Panchakarma can bring about a visible improvement in patients with Parkinsonism. Oil massages using Ashwagandha and Bala can work wonders.
  2. Brahmi is another wonder herb used to treat Parkinsonism.
  3. Meditation, exercise (light to moderate), yoga can be helpful in the case of Parkinsonism.
  4. Try and make the diet as nutritious and healthy as possible.
  5. A Warm Ayurvedic Oil Application is very effective in relieving these kinds of aches and pain if done on regular basis.

Sometimes, during consumption of certain food items many children get itchy throat, eyes, ears, asthma, sneezing, rashes, diarrhea and eczema. This can be due to food intolerance in children. It is a form of allergic disease in children. Every 1 out of 10 children suffer from food intolerance. These days, food allergies are becoming more and more common in children who are allergic to nuts, milk and eggs. In some cases it can also be life threatening. This condition is known as anaphylaxis. Milk and egg allergies are more common throughout the world.

Symptoms of food intolerance:

  1. Bloating

  2. Your bowels start becoming irritable.

  3. Stomach starts to ache.

  4. Cough and cold is a common symptom.

  5. Itchy skin rash

Causes of food intolerance in children:

  1. There are enzymes in your body, which help you to digest the food you consume. Some enzymes in your body are insufficient; which further causes food intolerance in children. For instance, lactose intolerance causes spasms, stomach aches, diarrhea and so on so forth.

  2. Food intolerance can also be caused due to chemicals, such as chemicals present in coffee, tea, cheese and chocolates.

  3. Some food products can also cause food intolerance such as undercooked beans containing aflatoxins can cause extreme stomach infections in children.

  4. Some children are also intolerant to certain food products which have salicylates such as majority of fruits, vegetables, herbs and also additives. Processed food contains a high amount of salicylates.

  5. Children can be allergic to antioxidants like artificial food coloring, artificial flavoring and preservatives.

What to do if you think your child has food intolerance?

  1. Take your child for a skin prick test. In this test, the skin is pricked with a thin needle and when the blood oozes out, supplements of different food products are put in that area. If that particular area becomes reddish and begins to itch, your child has allergy to that certain food product

  2. A blood test should be done. It verifies the level of lgE present in your blood and finds out if your child is suffering from food intolerance or not.
