The medicine has to be taken orally and is available in three forms - an immediate-release tablet, an extended-release tablet and a capsule. This medicine can be taken as a combination therapy, where you take it along with other medications for your treatment.

- Use with caution and reduce dosage when administered to patients receiving other CNS depressants.
- Patients with a history of seizures, or with a risk of seizures (head trauma, metabolic disorders, CNS infection, or malignancy, or during alcohol/drug withdrawal) are also at increased risk.
- This medicine is not recommended in patients with dementia-related psychosis as it increases the risk of heart diseases like heart failure and infectious diseases like pneumonia. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.
