About Fondakem 2.5Mg Injection

Fondakem 2.5Mg Injection is an anticoagulant. It helps prevent blood clot in patients who are scheduled to undergo surgery soon. It is also used in combination with warfarin to treat clots in the lungs/legs. It functions by interfering with one of the steps in the development of clots.

On using Fondakem 2.5Mg Injection you may experience side effects such as irritation, skin rash, trouble with sleeping/walking/speaking, reduced appetite, fever, swelling of body parts, hives, chest pain, headache, vomiting, nausea, muscle weakness, clouded thoughts, severe bleeding and severe weakness. If your reactions persist or worsen over time seek medical attention promptly.

Before using this medication you should notify your doctor if: you are allergic to any ingredient contained within Fondakem 2.5Mg Injection, you are less than 50 kg for undergoing treatments such as blood clot in lungs/legs or are having hip/knee replacement surgery, you are taking any other medication, you have other allergies, you have kidney/intestinal/stomach/liver/vision/bleeding problems, you are pregnant or breastfeeding a baby, you are scheduled for a surgery.

The dosage should be prescribed based on your age and condition. The usual adult dose is 5 mg given subcutaneously once daily. The duration of therapy is 5 days.

    How does this medication work?

    The active constituent of this medication is a synthetic anticoagulant which selectively binds to AT-III and enhances neutralization of coagulation Factor Xa by ATIII, inhibiting the formation of thrombin from prothrombin, which in turn inhibits the formation of fibrin from fibrinogen and stops clot formation.
