This drug is used for treating certain worm infections by killing the worms. It treats Bancroft's filariasis, eosinophilic lung, loiasis, and river blindness. This has a few side effects like fever, itching, painful and tender glands in the neck, nausea, and vomiting, and groin. Also, swelling of the face, dizziness, especially the eyes, joint pain, headache and unusual tiredness or weakness.

The dose is based on body weight and medical condition so it must be determined by your doctor. The usual dose for adults suffering from loiasis, Bancroft’s filariasis, and river blindness is 2 to 3 mg per kilogram of body weight, three times a day. The usual dose for adults suffering from the eosinophilic lung is 6 mg per kilogram of body weight, taken for 4 to 7 days.
