About Amyclox LB Capsule

Amyclox LB Capsule treats bacterial infections Including the treatment of otitis media, sinusitis, and infections caused by susceptible organisms involving the respiratory tract, skin, and urinary tract. It interferes with the synthesis of the cell wall in a bacteria and stops it from growing.

This medication is used to treat infections of the lungs and airways, skin, middle ear, sinuses, and the urinary tract. It also treats conditions like tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis and gonorrhoea. It is used in the prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis in patients undergoing surgical or dental procedures

You should not use this antibiotic combination if you are allergic to any penicillin-based antibiotic. These antibiotics can make birth control pills less effective so ask your doctor about using nonhormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy during the treatment.

Take entire prescription, even if you are feeling better. Take at equal intervals around-the-clock. You may experience nausea or vomiting (small frequent meals, frequent mouth care, sucking lozenges, or chewing gum may help).

Common side effects may include stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, vaginal itching or discharge or swollen or black tongue. Call your doctor at once if you have the following after using this medicine:

  • Diarrhoea, fever, cold or flu symptoms, cough, troubled breathing.
  • Swollen glands, severe skin irritation and rashes or joint pain.
  • Jaundice, confusion or weakness, dark coloured urine.
  • Numbness, severe tingling, pain or muscle weakness.
  • Easy bruising or unusual bleeding of nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum.

    How does this medication work?

    The drug is a Penicillin antibiotic and inhibits the transfer of a peptide group in the transpeptidation process. As a result, the bacterium is not able to build cell walls and is killed. When used against the beta-lactamase of staphylococci, the large R chain does not let the beta-lactamases to bind. Once the medicine is taken, it produces lactic acid in the intestine thereby preventing pathogens or bad bacteria from entering and growing. The lactic acid produced by Lactobacillus helps in restoring gastrointestinal health.

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

      • Interaction with Lab Test

        May interfere with urinary glucose tests using cupric sulfate (Benedict's solution, Clinitest®); may inactivate aminoglycosides in vitro.

        • Decreased effect: Efficacy of oral contraceptives may be reduced.
        • Increased effect: Disulfiram, probenecid may increase Amyclox LB Capsule levels.
        • Increased toxicity: Allopurinol theoretically has an additive potential for Amyclox LB Capsule rash.
      • Interaction with Disease

        In patients with renal impairment, doses and/or frequency of administration should be modified in response to the degree of renal impairment; a high percentage of patients with infectious mononucleosis have developed rash during therapy with Amyclox LB Capsule; a low incidence of cross-allergy with other beta-lactams and cephalosporins exists.
