When used against the beta-lactamase of staphylococci, the large R chain does not let the beta-lactamases to bind. Once the medicine is taken, it produces lactic acid in the intestine thereby preventing pathogens or bad bacteria from entering and growing. The lactic acid produced by Lactobacillus helps in restoring gastrointestinal health.
