In Palpitations there is a feeling of the heart beat going too fast and there is also fluttering, skipping a beat and other related symptoms experienced. In most cases there is also Palpitations in the throat and the neck region that kind of makes the ordeal frightening. Such Palpitations could be indicative of other complications too.
HOW IS PALPITATIONS DIAGNOSED?
The health care provider will check for heartbeat and if there is anything abnormal in it. The doctor may suggest other tests which may include:
• Holter monitor for 24 hours, or another heart monitor for two weeks or longer
• Electrophysiology study (EPS)
• Coronary angiography
HOW IS PALPITATIONS TREATED?
There is usually no reason to worry if it is just a case of mild palpitations without any cardiac arrest risks. Doctors would advise rest and medicines to relieve the anxiety. Also, eating healthier, exercising and relaxing are suggested for such patients.
