About Levotiz Plus Tablet

This is a combination medication which has Ambroxol, Levocetirizine, Paracetamol, and Phenylephrine as active ingredients. It is a systemically active mucolytic agent. This medication works by breaking down the structure of mucus in the lungs and therefore facilitating expectoration. Also, it treats acute and chronic respiratory diseases accompanied by elevated mucus production.

You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to it if you are breastfeeding, if you ever had Stevens-Johnson syndrome, or if you are 12 years old or younger. Take extra precaution while using this medicine if you have a liver disorder, kidney failure, or stomach ulcers.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication is an agent that causes diffusion of thick mucus. Uncontrolled quantity of nitric oxide (NO) is related to inflammation and other kinds of disruptions of the functioning of the airways. It inhibits the activation of guanylate cyclase which is nitric oxide-dependent. Levocetirizine selectively inhibits the peripheral H1 receptors thereby reducing the histamine levels in the body. It specifically acts on allergies caused in the stomach and intestine, blood vessels and airways leading to the lung. The drug is a pain relief medication that selectively inhibits enzyme function in the brain which allows it to treat pain and fever. It activates certain receptors in the brain that inhibit pain signals. Phenylephrine is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist belonging to the phenethylamine class, which acts as a nasal decongestant. It works by narrowing the swelling of blood vessels in the ear and nose, thereby providing great relief from discomfort.
