Egg donation helps the other women to conceive, if she is not able to produce healthy eggs, the chances are high in case of donor egg with minimum risk of genetic complication. This process is best for the women above 40 years who have tried IVF and other infertility treatment without success. IVF treatment with donor eggs, success rate is higher if compared to cycle where own eggs are used. This is due to the fact that the donors are young and live a healthy life, they don’t have any sort of abnormalities or disease which can affect their fertility. Hospitals checks the donors before recruiting them with various diseases, hospitals prefer the donor to be below 36 years of age. Hence, with all these precautions the rate of success becomes higher.

Donor eggs is the best solution and is recommended in the following cases

  • Women who have suffered from any inherited condition, this process will remove the risk of passing it on.

  • If you are a premature child.

  • If you are above 50 and have reached menopause.

  • If you have undergone chemotherapy or radiotherapy. All these cases lead to low egg production or no egg, so in such cases going for donor egg process is best solution.

Above points clears that donor egg process is better than own egg.

When to go for donor egg process

  • If someone has already witnessed failed treatment like IVF, donor egg process can show some ray of hope.

  • Donor egg process is best for ladies above 40 years. At this age the own egg production is low and hence chances of conceiving is negligible.

  • When the women experience low egg production because of any reason.

  • If chances of passing disease to the child from mother is high, one should opt for donor egg process.

Own egg process

In this process the eggs are of the woman who wants to conceive. Sometimes there are cases that the egg production is fine but the woman is not able to conceive due to some other reason, like for example if the male is handicapped and not able to make the woman conceive naturally, so in that case IVF treatment is done using own egg process.

This process is generally recommended only if the woman has good and healthy egg production and if these two criteria are not fulfilled, doctors mostly ask to go for donor eggs. In such case, the process has low rate of success and the possibilities of transfer of genetic disease is high if the mother is suffering from any. This method is time consuming as well as the success rate is low.

The success rate of donor egg process is 40% higher than normal standard IVF treatment, because the eggs are retrieved from young and healthy women. Women with no egg production should not only go for this process but women with low eggs should also consider this. Hence, donor egg process is better than own egg process.
