These commercially available tooth paste are one n the same thing.Both says they work in reducing the tooth senstivity due to cold intake.These may help olny during the early stages but when there is sensation to both cold and hot drinks and pain, you need to visit a dentist.

for cavities pastes do not help but avoidance of food [rice particle to chocolate] helps, but does not cure. U require fillings to RCTs depending on the severity / depth opf the cavity.
Any toothpaste will perform well if you follow proper brushing techniques. Otherwise any toothpaste will lead to wear of enamel. So try to learn good brushing technique which suits you.
if your kid have teeth in the mouth , yes, you can start tooth pastes like cheerio or kidodent.
if teeth are not there, please use wet and clean soft clothes to gently clean the gums or gingivae.
It is not toothpaste but the technique you use to clean the teeth will impart good oral hygiene. For best results you can go for professional cleaning every 6 months, and for maintaining the the same brush twice daily using the right technique. You can use any toothpaste.
