Glyciphage 500 MG Tablet SR For Type 2 Diabetes

I am diabetic type 2 insulin and using dapa 10 mg x1 and taking neurobion x1. And in the night I take 75 mg x1 xilica for neuropathy (which has recently started in my feet and sometimes I feel it in penis). But they are not regular, mean sometimes 3 days will pass and you won't feel anything. My question is I am divorced and wanna get married, will there be a problem ed or any other sort? My morning reading was 6.5 mmol. I am diabetic from the last 13 years. I stopped using glyciphage 1g x2 recently cuz the doctor said it's helping you in loosing weight, I am 22.1 bmi. Bp is normal.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. However, there is no mention of after food glucose level and hba1c%. Fasting glucose 117 mg is showing a good level, but other two parameters are very vital to know. Long standing diabetes does lead to problems like peripheral neuropathy and even ed is quite often seen. This happens because small blood vessels supplying the penile muscle are affected. Strict blood glucose control does help in preventing most of the long term complications but there is no guarantee of that not happening. Ideally at your age fasting glucose should be< 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%. Thanks.

Dr, I am 75 year old, diagnosed type 2 diabetic before three years. Before that it was controlled by food regulations. Dr. prescribed glyciphage g1 forte and it was almost controlled (1 tablet morning and 1 tablet evening after food). Now fasting sugar is 110 average but post food is 280. I am not interested in taking insulin. Kindly advice. What about using a substitute like exermet gm fort.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, I note that your blood sugar after breakfast is quite high. You have not mentioned your height or weight. If you are overweight (weight in kg more than height in cm minus 100) then you will have tobe very strict with diet, avoid carbohydrates as much as possibel and take more proteins and vegetables. If you also walk for 1 hour per day you can reuce about 1 mg weight per month. If youbring your weight down ot ideal body weight then your sugars may remain under control with only glyciphage, if you are not overweight a different approach is needed and you can take an online consultation and we can hep you

Diabetes is a progressive disease. The oral drugs work as long as the body is producing it’s own adequate insulin. The drugs which he is currently taking stimulates insulin making cells to produce more insulin thus controlling sugars, but with time the insulin making cells don’t make enough insulin to control the metabolic needs thus the sugar levels goes up. So at this point one would ideally need insulin. You have not mentioned his current hba1c and kft. If he is reluctant for insulin. We can try new oral drugs like sglt2 inhibitors. For further details about this you can consult online.

your blood sugar is still high. Follow diabetes diet which simply means eating the healthiest foods in moderate amounts and sticking to regular mealtimes. A diabetes diet is a healthy-eating plan that's naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. Key elements are fruits, vegetables and whole grains. U can take (moderate amount) grapes. Apples. Berries. Citrus fruits. Papaya. U should avoid sugar-sweetened beverages. Sugary beverages are the worst drink choice for someone with diabetes. Trans fats sugar, cake, pastries mithai/sweets chocolate fruits like mango, litchi etc. White bread, pasta fruit-flavored yogurt. Sweetened breakfast cereals. Flavored coffee drinks. Honey 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or soaked almonds or any seasonal fruit. No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. 3. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 4. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 5. Maintain active life style 6. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods 7.take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 8. Drink lot of water. 9.curd is good for u. Exercise in the form of yoga, cycling, swimming, gymming, walking etc. Do suryanamaskar for good health regularly homeopathy offers good results. 120 and pp more than 160) and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs regards, professor m s seshadri." mednames="">Dear Mr. lybrate-user, your thyroid problem seems to be under control on 125 ug eltroxine > continue the same dose for your height of 5'7" the correct weight would be about 70-72 kg. You seem to be overweight by nearly 25-26 kg. It is important to normalize your weight as far as possible to optimize your sugar control. There are antidiabetic medicines which can also help with weight reduction. I suggest the following changes in the diet and life style reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, soya, egg white, fish or chicken). Take lot of green leafy vegetables walk 5 km per day at your own pace and gradually reduce weight by 1 kg per month to ideal body weight (height in cm minus 100 will roughly be your ideal body weight in kg) about 72 kg. Monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. If in spite of dietary adjustment your sugar levels continue to be high (fasting > 120 and pp more than 160) and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs

Hi lybrate-user, I understand your concern. If your post meal sugars are not getting controlled since a year. There are two options. One is - there are few good medicines which have come recently which might help you to reduce your pp sugar. But you should consult your local endocrinologist who will evaluate if they are suitable for you or not. Second - as you are already on lantus. You can start insulin to help control pp sugars also, which will reduce the no. Of tablets that you need to take but at the expense of twice or thrice daily insulin. This is the usual course of management in a patient with type 2 diabetes for a long period of time. Either of the options will help you, and it has to be decided in association with your treating doctor, and which ever option helps you it is best to proceed with that as the more time you delay the more time body stays in high sugar environment and it is more damaging than multiple doses of injections to control that sugar.
