Febustat 40 MG Tablet For Gout

My husband's uric acid level was 9.9 a month before. He was a regular drinker but quit completely about 3 month's back he has been prescribed feburic 80 mg once a day. Will this medicine affect his liver, though he has no liver problems per se. Also he consumes freshwater fish everyday and plenty of vegetables and fruits. He does not touch red/ organ meats and does not consume outside food or junk food. Also he takes 4-5 litres of water a day. No tea, coffee, soda, aerated drinks etc. How long should he take feburic 80 mg? Please advise.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. The uric acid level given is quite high. It needs to be brought closer 6 mg or lower /100 ml. Therefore, he may have to take febustat for quite a long time which could be 6 months plus. It is essential to check the uric acid level at least once in 3 months and based on that one can decide on continuation of the tablets. Fresh water fish seem to have less urea generating property than the sea fish. It is good to know that he has maintained a very good food habit and stopped taking alcohol. Because alcohol is not helpful in reducing uric acid levels. Thanks.

*this is not individual medical advice. Please consult your doctor*the high triglycerides and uric acid are due to insulin resistance. The solution without allopathic medicine which has worked for my patients is to reduce carbohydrates and get protein to 0.8 gram per kg reference body weight per day. Vegetarians are most often eating a protein deficient diet and still their uric acid is high. So why blame dietary protein for uric acid? We have seen every patients uric acid come down by achieving protein targets. Most vegetarian people are far far away from a high protein intake. At least get your daily requirements.

Mr. lybrate-user upadhyaya, thanks for the query. The drug that you are taking will definitely help in reducing the uric acid level. You will have to continue taking the same for some more months. Plus there is a need to look your diet and overall lifestyle. 1) with a bmi of 27.4 kg/sq meter (normal < 23 kg/sq meter) ypu are already quite over weight. Your ideal body weight should be about 65 kg, hence, reducing the weight is an important aspect, that will also help in bringing down uric acid level. 2) avoid taking high protein diet. Particularly dry been, green peas, mushrooms and cauliflower. 3) avoid eating red meat, mutton in general, organ meat, fishes, scallops, shell fish & pork if you are taking non-vegetarian diet. 4) avoid sugary aerated drinks like colas & packaged fruit juices, corn syrup (fructose syrup) containing food products. 5) avoid alcohol & loose weight. Therefore, along with the drug taken for reduction of uric acid, please follow a modified lifestyle. That will help in uric acid level reduction thanks.

V Hello, Thanks for the query. Uric acid mentioned (12.8 mg/100 ml) is definitely quite high. Please let me know what are the problems you have associated with this situation. That is do you have gouty arthritis? Using Febstat is one of the major treatment for reducing uric acid. Plus avoiding foods containing high purines like a number of fish varieties, red meat particularly organ meat like liver, kidney etc. So you will have to use febustat on and of. There is no complete cure for this condition. I know I am not giving a solution to your query. Thanks.

Resisted terminal knee extension: make a loop with a piece of elastic tubing by tying a knot in both ends. Close the knot in a door at knee height. Step into the loop with your injured leg so the tubing is around the back of your knee. Lift the other foot off the ground and hold onto a chair for balance, if needed. Bend the knee with tubing about 45 degrees. Slowly straighten your leg, keeping your thigh muscle tight as you do this. Repeat 15 times. Do 2 sets of 15. If you need an easier way to do this, stand on both legs for better support while you do the exercise. Standing calf stretch: stand facing a wall with your hands on the wall at about eye level. Keep as arthritis is very common that you get generally bilaterally. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone.

Hi, I have had a high Uric acid (7.2) and also felt joint pain specially in ankle area before 2 year and doctor prescribed febustat 40 mg. After intake febustat 40 mg for 6 months uric acid level comes down to 4.2 (checked blood test) and continued 1 year. Seeing the level of Uric acid and as I was taking since long time, I deliberately stopped the febustat 40 since last six months w/o asking doctor. But since couple of weeks I am facing again ankle pain, back pain. Under this circumstances I took 1 strip of febustat 40 again and pain issue resolves 50%.Please suggest, my next step apart from consulting the doctor (that I am planning) Regards Dipak.

Normal Uric acid levels are 2.4-6.0 mg/dL (female) and 3.4-7.0 mg/dL (male) Some diets that are rich in purine end up causing an increased production of uric acid. In other cases, it may be due to a completely sedentary lifestyle. Less intake of water also may be to blame in some cases as water plays an important role in washing out the excess of the uric acid. Regular usage of some medicines also cause the uric acid levels to rise. Another important factor is being overweight as obese people are much more likely to get gout as compared to those who have normal weight. Homeopathic medicines are pretty effective at curing the acute as well as the chronic gout A homoeopathic constitutional treatment will give you a permanent cure naturally You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects Medicines will reach you via courier services

Stop the roseday F. Roseday is needed AFTER heart attacks, and F should be prescribed in very rare cases, although it is very commonly used. You are getting into health problem of gout, so your present focus should not be on diseases you don't have. You should understand medicines that you have agreed to take long term without any disease. Don't make your health the responsibility of a Dr, it is your responsibility too.
