Azithromycin Side Effect

My husband's vdrl test came up positive with rpr titre 1: 1 and tpha test came as weakly positive. And he has no symptoms. Doctor advised him that it is as good as negative and gave him azithromycin 1000 mg and than followed by doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 15 days. Is it okay or he need to take more treatment.

It's important for your husband to follow the advice of his healthcare provider, as they have access to his complete medical history and can provide personalized recommendations. Positive results for tests like vdrl (venereal disease research laboratory) and tpha (treponema pallidum hemagglutination assay) may indicate exposure to syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection. However, it's crucial to interpret these results in the context of the individual's overall health, medical history, and other factors. The treatment your husband is prescribed, a combination of azithromycin and doxycycline, is a common regimen for treating syphilis. The antibiotics work to eliminate the bacteria responsible for the infection. The duration and specific medications may vary based on the stage of the infection and individual factors. If you have concerns about the prescribed treatment or if your husband experiences any side effects, it's essential to communicate with his healthcare provider promptly. Additionally, follow-up testing may be recommended to ensure that the treatment has been effective. Regards, Dr. Ms. haque.

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when your hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples. These factors can trigger or aggravate acne: hormones, certain medications, diet, stress. To prevent pimples, eat fresh fruits, green vegetables, drinking plenty of water should be an essential part of your routine and intake of oily fried foods, an excess of sugar-salt should be avoided. Don't peal pimples, as they tend to leave scars. Stop using soap on face. Instead take a spoon of milk, add a pinch of turmeric (haldi). Mix n apply on face with the help of cotton. Leave for a few minutes then wash off. It’s a good cleanser. If skin is dry then apply moisturizer like coconut oil. For swollen pimples, gently apply ice for a minute or so. Just don't keep the ice on so long that it irritates your skin. Tea tree oil can kill bacteria. Some people use it to treat minor skin irritations, including acne. There isn't much research on how effective it is, but tea tree oil is safe to put directly on your skin in a diluted form. Try it on a small area first to make sure you don't have an allergic reaction. Simple honey mask--before applying this mask, rinse your face with warm water to open up pores. Then apply honey and leave it on the skin for 30 minutes. Rinse the honey off with warm water; then rinse again with cold water to close the pores. Yeast and yogurt mask for oily skin--oily skin is prone to acne, and this home remedy can reduce excess oil and help clear acne. To make the mask, combine 1 teaspoon of brewer's yeast with a little plain yogurt to create a thin mixture. Apply it thoroughly to all the oily areas and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water; then use cold water to close the pores.Homeopathy is a very effective for this problem n has very encouraging results. Consult online for medicinal part.

Respectfully begging to clear my doubts and help. I have asked several times, consulted doctors also, and tell myself that n fowleri infection is very rare but still every time I wash my face, hair or take a bath, I worry. Taking help from psychiatric will not help. Today while washing my face, some drops of water splashed on my nose. Now as I breathed in normally, I felt water in inner part of my nose so I panicked. Can getting a drop/few drops of water being splashed in nose or breathed in during washing hair cause n fowleri or brain eating amoeba infection or it can only happen if deliberately I sniff up the water aggressively (which I don't ever)? I don't swim or use neti pots. But we use underground water, drawn using jet pump stored in plastic water tank which is seldom cleaned as placed on terrace. So water is not chlorinated. I take azithromycin when such incidents occur but I read it has dangerous side effects. Can taking azithromycin prevent infection?

Hi, acne requires longterm management. Tablets are needed if creams don't give results. The doctor may give higher antibiotic if azithromycin is not effective. It takes 3-4 months to get appreciable response. So please continue your treatment under a dermatologist and you will get results.
