Highly effective in the treatment of high blood pressure, L.P.L. 5 MG Tablet is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. The drug is also used in the treatment of congestive heart failure. It can be prescribed to adults and children who are 6 years and above.

Before starting this drug patients should be aware of some essential information regarding its consumption. The drug can result in severe complications if you are allergic to it. Thus ensure that you are not allergic to any ACE inhibitors before you start L.P.L. 5 MG Tablet. It should not be consumed by patients who have angioedema or pregnant women. If you do conceive while on the drug make sure to discontinue it immediately and inform your doctor at once. Traces of the drug have been found in breast milk, which can harm an infant. Thus, breastfeeding mothers a discouraged to nurse their infant while on the drug. Patients who suffer from diabetes or kidney problems are advised not to take L.P.L. 5 MG Tablet along with aliskiren.

Patients who are on L.P.L. 5 MG Tablet should drink a lot of water and keep themselves hydrated, primarily because the drug can reduce sweating increasing the chances of a heat stroke during summers. Alcohol consumption is not advised because it can lead to low blood pressure thus aggravating the side effects of the drug. Because it can result in dizziness, fast movements should be avoided. Do not get up very fast when you are lying down or make sudden movements that can aggravate the dizziness.

Common side effects of L.P.L. 5 MG Tablet are pain in the chest, dizziness, headache and cough. The doctor should be consulted if you experience light headedness, problems with urination, nausea, unusual slowing down or increase in heart rate, dark stool, appetite loss, jaundice, itching or loss of bodily movement.

    Corticosteroids

Inform the doctor if you experience sudden weight gain or swelling of hands and feet. If coadministration is needed then suitable dose adjustments are to be made under the doctor's supervision. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function tests are to be performed.

    Aliskiren

    Use of these medicines is not recommended especially in the elderly population with diabetes and kidney disease with CrCl less than 60 ml/min. You experience weakness, confusion, and irregular heartbeat if these medicines are taken together. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function tests are to be performed. An alternate medicine should be considered under the doctor's supervision.

    Insulin

    The effect of insulin will increase if these medicines are taken together. You may experience dizziness, headache, sweating if these medicines are taken together. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is needed. Suitable dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered under the doctor's supervision.

    Diclofenac

    The desired effect of L.P.L. 5 MG Tablet will not be obtained if these medicines are taken together. The risk of kidney impairment will increase if these medicines are taken together especially in elderly population or having pre-existing kidney disease. Inform the doctor if you have an increased or decreased urination and unexplained weight gain or weight loss. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function tests are to be performed.
