About Gabaloy-NT Tablet

This is a combination medication that has Gabapentin and Nortriptyline as active ingredients. It is a prescriptive drug primarily used to prevent neuropathic pain. This medication treats nerve pain in adults by affecting the chemicals and nerves responsible for these pains and seizures.

While under this medication, it is advised that you avoid activities that may include lifting heavy objects or driving. Before taking this medication to inform your doctor of the following conditions mentioned below:

    • Missed Dose instructions

      If you miss a dose of this medication, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication belongs to GABA analog. It works by binding to the calcium channels and increases the concentration of GABA and reduces the release of monoamine neurotransmitters, thus reduces the excitability of brain cells and helps to treat convulsions. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that blocks the norepinephrine presynaptic receptors which in turn inhibits norepinephrine reuptake. This raises its concentration in the synaptic clefts of the CNS. It also blocks the reuptake of serotonin at the neuronal membrane.

        Alcohol

        Consumption of alcohol with this medication is not recommended as it increases the risk of side effects like dizziness, difficulty in concentration. Do not perform activities that require mental alertness like driving or operating machinery.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Duloxetine

        These medications may cause dizziness, confusion and breathing difficulty if taken together. Inform the doctor if you are receiving antidepressants or antipsychotics. Dose adjustments are to be made if any symptoms appear based on the clinical condition.

        Buprenorphine

        These medications are not recommended together due to the risk of breathlessness and other central nervous system effects. Inform the doctor if you are receiving any antidepressants or antipsychotics. Dose adjustments are to be made if any symptoms appear based on the clinical condition.

        Impaired Kidney Function

        This medication should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment. The monitoring of kidney function is necessary. Dose adjustments are to be made based on CrCl.
