This medication is composed of two antibiotics which are Metronidazole and Norfloxacin. It destroys parasites and anaerobic bacteria by damaging their DNA which causes infection. The drug also helps by preventing the division of bacterial cells. It is primarily used to treat Diarrhea and Dysentery.

The drug belongs to the class anthelmintics. It enters into the organism and forms the free radical. A concentration gradient is created in the organism due to alteration in the molecule and promotes the influx of the molecule. Thus, the free radical and the altered molecule will interfere with the DNA synthesis and stops the growth of the organism. It also belongs to the class fluoroquinolones. It works as a bactericidal by inhibiting the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, which is essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This leads to expansion and destabilization of the bacterial DNA and causes cell death.
