About Trigabantin 300 Tablet

This medication is composed of Gabapentin, Methylcobalamin and Alpha Lipoic Acid. It is a prescriptive drug primarily used to prevent neuropathic pain and belongs to a class of drugs called anticonvulsants. Aside from this, the medicine is also used to cure postherpetic neuralgia. It treats nerve pain by acting on the chemicals and nerve responsible for the pain.

    How does this medication work?

    The drug belongs to GABA analog. It works by binding to the calcium channels and increases the concentration of GABA and reduces the release of monoamine neurotransmitters, thus reduces the excitability of brain cells and helps to treat convulsions. The medicine acts as a cofactor for enzyme methionine synthase, which transfers methyl groups for the regeneration of methionine from homocysteine. In anemia, it increases blood cell production by promoting nucleic acid synthesis in the bone marrow and by promoting maturation and division of erythrocytes.
