Tetrahydrozoline is a vasoconstrictor. It works by narrowing swollen blood vessels in the eyes to reduce eye redness.Tetrahydrozoline ophthalmic (for the eyes) is for temporary relief of minor eye redness, swelling, or draining caused by minor irritants.This medication is a decongestant used to relieve redness in the eyes caused by minor eye irritations (e.g., smog, swimming, dust, or smoke). It belongs to a class of drugs known as sympathomimetic amines. It works by temporarily narrowing the blood vessels in the eye.Some brands of tetrahydrozoline eye drops may contain lubricants. Lubricants help protect the eyes from more irritation and dryness.
SIDE EFFECTS :
- allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
- change in vision
- eye irritation or redness that gets worse or lasts more than 72 hours
- eye pain
Interactions are not expected. If you are using other eye drops with this medicine, separate the application of the different eye drops by roughly 5 minutes. This ensures that the eye drops do not interfere with each other. If you are using both eye drops and an eye ointment, use the eye drops 10 minutes before the eye ointment so that the eye ointment does not interfere with the action of the drops.
