Cold, often referred to as a common cold happens because of seasonal flus, allergies and viruses. Though the cold usually takes about 7-14 days to heal, it is often accompanied with other acute symptoms like headache, runny nose, constant sneezing and other similar issues.

Persistent cold that comes with high temperature which refuses to abate should be examined by a doctor. A general physician will usually carry out a physical examination to diagnose the issue, along with an X ray to check for any signs of chest congestion. Lab tests may also be conducted in case there is a possibility of infection.
HOW IS COLDS TREATED?
Treatment of the common cold includes anti-allergens along with nasal drops to ease the congestion. At times, the cold is also accompanied with fever and hence a paracetamol may also be recommended by the doctor.
