Lateral internal sphincterotomy are mostly done to relieve people from anal fissures. The sphincters are the muscles around the anus which are responsible for proper bowel movements. Even though it is considered as the last resort that needs to be conducted when a person is suffering from anal fissure, it is very much effective.
