Hi,

I am Dr. Smriti Uppal, Gynaecologist. Today I will talk about prenatal care & antenatal care. It is a very important part of your pregnancy and you must go for it. This is the service provided to you during 9 months of pregnancy. Why is it important? Because it helps in healthy pregnancy and delivering a healthy baby. You should visit a gynecologist as soon as you think of pregnancy. She will be able to screen you. Your body will be prepared for the coming pregnancy. Your Dr will also suggest you for a few of the test to check the progress on your health and the baby. Ultrasound will be done for you to undergo. The test helps in screening any infections or complications. Apart from these, you need to follow a few good habits also. Like a healthy lifestyle, diet and exercises which your Dr will recommend. Quit smoking, alcohol. Eat fibrous food. Antenatal care is important to help you deliver a healthy baby. Even if you perfectly well and doing fine, still you should not miss these test and follow the things as Dr says. Please do not take any medications without consulting a Dr or a prescription.

For any help or query, you can contact me through Lybrate.

Thank You
