Holi – the festival of colors is knocking on the door and preparations are being made to celebrate it in a grand way but girls and boys, men and women, there are some precautions, which are necessary to be taken while playing Holi.

It is not that only women have to take care of their skin and health but even men should take care of their skin and health as the factors affecting the health and skin are artificial colors, pure ghee delicacies, and not to mention the bhang which may be consumed.

Hence, it is necessary to take precautions to protect one’s health, and at the same time enjoy the spirit of Holi.

Therefore, some of the tips to enjoy Holi and at the same time be safe are:

  1. Apply oil or any cream on your whole body and face as the colors are made up of chemicals and it is necessary to protect your skin form the damage caused by chemicals.
  2. Apply lots of oil on your hair to protect your hair from chemicals.
  3. Holi is played with colors but this time instead of artificial colors, use natural homemade colors. For yellow color, one can use turmeric powder, for green color one can use mehandi powder otherwise grind methi or pudina leaves, for red color obtain red sandalwood powder or grind hibiscus flowers, for wet magenta color, make beetroot juice and add it to water.
  4. Natural color causes no harm to health, skin and hair and it is perfectly safe.
  5. Make sure that you stay away from bhang during Holi as bhang is very bad for health, it causes loss of sense, dysentery, and an overdose of it can be fatal as it is a drug.
  6. Holi is complete only with mouthwatering delicacies like puran poli, kachori, peda, thandai, kheer, etc. but all these dishes are packed with calories, sugar, and unless you want to put on weight do not consume excess of it.
  7. During Holi, make sure that you wear the clothes you want to throw out, as you will have to throw them out after you play Holi. Please do not wear pure white clothes as they show on T.V.
  8. Make sure that you cover your body properly, wear full sleeve t-shirts and full pants because the less you expose your skin, the less time you will spend in the bathroom trying to get rid of the colors.

Make sure that you follow these tips and have a safe as well as a happy Holi…….
