Sinusitis - Causes and Treatment!

Chronic sinusitis is a flare-up of a persistent sinusitis problem that has not heal over many months. Sometimes doctors recommend OTC pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen etc. Care should be taken while giving aspirin to kids. Teenagers and children s recovering from flu and chicken pox should not consume OTC pain relievers without a medical recommendation.

Most doctors recommend mild medicines to treat sinusitis. However, in extreme cases, if the sinusitis progresses, doctors often inject antibiotics through IV. It is recommended that an antibiotic course should be completed to negate the chances of the condition recurring. Antibiotics are recommended only when the sinusitis is a result of a bacterial infection and has not been cured with conventional medicine for over 4-5 months.

Consuming juice or water helps in diluting the mucous secretion and hence promote drainage of the same. It is wise to avoid caffeinated drinks as they can dehydrate the body.
