Regular headaches VS Migraines

Women experience more headaches than men do. Gender affects the experience of tension related headaches. Women are more susceptible to both episodic (often of a longer duration) and chronic headaches (generally for 15 days in a month) as compared to men. Medical studies say that these headaches in women fluctuate with their menstrual cycles and are more common during their menstrual period.

Research shows that a person going through that kind of a pain in his head is likely to be having a migraine attack at that point of time. During a migraine attack, you can experience symptoms like pain on either side of your head or both sides, throbbing pain on your left forehead, sensitivity to lights and also smell in some cases, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision sometimes followed by vomiting.

In acupuncture, thin needles are inserted under the skin at strategic points to treat headaches. These strategic points in acupuncture are called "acupunctural points". This process realigns the flow of energy, or "qi" (translates as air in traditional Chinese culture) into your body. Evidence also suggests that acupuncture can be extremely helpful in treating episodic or chronic headaches.

Though people have reported experiencing "auras" like flickering lights, spots or jagged lines during a migraine attack, not every migraine attack is accompanied by one. "Aura" is a broad term of how a migraine affects your senses before or during a headache. Most people experiencing migraines with auras also experience migraines without auras.
