Bone Fracture - How Osteoporosis Leads To It?

Osteoporosis is a condition where bone loss occurs and bones weaken gradually resulting in fractures. In fact, a fracture is a symptom of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is undetectable until a fracture occurs. The bones become so weak in osteoporosis that even a slight stress can cause a bone fracture.

When a fractured bone pierces through the skin then the fracture is known as the open or compound fracture. Open fractures usually occur when a person has met with a road accident or any other situation where his/her body has to suffer massive stress. These results in not just bone fracture but also the fractured bone piercing through the skin due to impact.

Symptoms of bone fractures include swelling, alteration in shape of bone, the formation of bruise or bleeding over the fracture site and intense pain. Tingling and feeling of numbness are also experienced in a fractured limb as well as inability or limited ability to move the limb.
