Instead of monitoring calories you should monitor nutrition. Calories can be good or bad, where as nutrition is always good. If you have a medical condition then you should contact a nutritionist and take a course for a few weeks, as it will need expert supervision.
Both are equally good depending upon usage. For home usage a digital monitor is better as people find it difficult to use a manual one. Things to keep in mind while using a digital monitor is that the cuff should be properly tied.
- should not take reading repeatedly on the same arm as it will give varying results as the compression has already occured once.
- should ask someone to tie the cuff for you.
- note deviation only of your monitor if using regularly. Don't compare reading if two monitors.

Bhavyaji, All glucometers produced by reputed companies are good like acucheck, one touch or any other. While using a glucometer you have to prick the tip of the finger for a drop of blood, there is a lancet provided by every company using that is fairly painless. Since finger has to be pricked some pain is bound to be there.
