digital BP monitor gives highly inaccurate results don't rely on it. Better rely on what your doc has found. Don't take alcohol more than once a month. All the best

Lybrate-user, start with a salt and calorie restricted diet. Do moderate activities for at least 30 minutes per day. Avoid junk food and excessive caffeinated /alcoholic drinks. Monitor your blood pressure on a daily basis. Also do tests for thyroid, sugar and cholesterol. Report back if blood pressure remains on the higher side.

To note down the blood pressure reading which is best to use a digital monitor or a manual monitor.

To note down the blood pressure reading which is best to use a digital monitor or a manual monitor.
Both are equally good depending upon usage. For home usage a digital monitor is better as people find it difficult to use a manual one. Things to keep in mind while using a digital monitor is that the cuff should be properly tied. - should not take reading repeatedly on the same arm as it will give varying results as the compression has already occured once. - should ask someone to tie the cuff for you. - note deviation only of your monitor if using regularly. Don't compare reading if two monitors.

Dear lybrate-user, You are young and should monitor all your health issues with a properly planned nutritious diet, exercise and life style. Begin Yoga and pranayama. With proper planning, at your age, BP can come under good control without medication and you can lead a normal happy life. Foods that will help: Green leafy vegs; Dahi/ curd/butter milk BEFORE food; pomegranate, beet, honey. Resist taking packaged foods of any kind and fried foods. Regards.
