Information about Gaviscon Syrup

Gaviscon Syrup contains Sodium Alginate - 250 mg, Sodium Bicarbonate - 133.5 mg, and Calcium Carbonate - 80 mg.

Role of key ingredients:
Sodium Alginate helps reduce gastric reflux by forming a rigid raft of alginic acid in the stomach.
Sodium Bicarbonate is used as an antacid to treat heartburn, indigestion, and upset stomach. It works by reducing stomach acid.
Calcium Carbonate is an antacid that lowers the amount of acid in the stomach, thereby providing relief from heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset stomach.

Gaviscon Syrup is used to treat gastritis, oesophageal reflux, acidity, esophagitis and dyspepsia.

I am feeling pain in my back at end of esophagus after swallowing from last 3 days. I am now on liquid diet I am taking omez and gaviscon I have hiatus hernia. Is there any gastroenterologist who can answer this.

My belly has pain and a doctor gave me nexium 40 mg in morning and rabeloc rd for night and librax and enzar forte and gaviscon. Is it too much medicine? Or can I take all without problem?

U have not mentioned since when are u having this problem not the exact location of pain. What r other symptoms that you r experiencing? By doing what like walking, exertion, eating or empty stomach- it increases or decreases in intensity. For how much time the pain remains? Is there stiffness also? How is your appetite? R you constipated? Any problem in urine? I need to know more to be able to make diagnosis. In the meanwhile Follow this 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic). ) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't Overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U should eat whatever ur mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is ur traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. 6. Maintain active life style 7. Avoid fast foods, spicy n fried foods, Carbonated beverages 8. Take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 9. It may be because of acidity. But I need to know more to make a diagnosis. Are you constipated. Meanwhile follow this 1. Lose weight. Obesity is the leading cause of GERD/ Acidity. Don't Overeat 2. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits, a handful of peanuts, any fresh n seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk etc 5. Swelling on the upper left quadrant with no pain. I am on treatment current for having too much acids in my system. I was prescribed gaviscon and motion. I don?t know why the swelling is there, I checked my heart, pulse, lungs and they are all ok.
