About Rosuvas 10 MG Tablet

This medication is used to lower the cholesterol level and triglycerides in the body. It also prevents cardiovascular diseases. The tablet belongs to a group of drugs known as statins. Rusovas reduces blood cholesterol level by preventing the narrowing of arteries.

Use of this tablet must be as per directed by the doctor. It is also important to take a regular dose of this medicine for best results. However, if you have missed a dose, don’t try to compensate it by taking an extra dose with the next one. It is suggested to avoid the use of Rosuvas if you are suffering from liver disease. Also, pregnant woman or someone planning to get pregnant should not take this tablet.

Exercise caution if you are suffering from kidney disease or undergoing dialysis. Inform the doctor if you are taking any other prescribed medicine or if you have any food allergies. Do not consume alcohol during the course of medication.

    How does this medication work?

    The tablet is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor for cholesterol. The primary site of action of rosuvastatin is the liver, the target organ for cholesterol lowering. Rosuvastatin increases the number of hepatic LDL receptors on the cell-surface, enhancing uptake and catabolism of LDL and it inhibits the hepatic synthesis of VLDL, thereby reducing the total number of VLDL and LDL particles.
