You should take an opinion of gastroenterologist as losing 10 kg in 2 years when the weight is just 35 kg is very unusual. Simultaneously, in her case a short admission can be considered for detailed evaluation and to see what medication suits her well as she is having very low weight and suicidal thoughts. She needs a multidisciplinary treatment.

I'm suffering form contamination ocd and of the psychiatrist had prescribed serta 50 for me but it was very uncomfortable after having it. So I stopped having it after just 2-3 days. Now that my ocd is increasing I thought of having serta 25. But it's not a good feeling after having it. But I have restyl 0.25 or clonotril 0.25 as and when required. Any other alternative medication that I can have for ocd and anxiety?

Hi please do not change dosage or stop medicines at will. If you are uncomfortable and feeling any side effects consult your psychiatrist immediately and apprise him of your situation. He will change the medicine or dosage. Take therapy along with medicines. Consistent therapy along with medicines is needed to help you cope with ocd symptoms. Medicines only help control symptoms temporarily, while therapy gives more sustainable results. Take therapy regularly and apply what you learn in therapy sessions in your life practically.

Deep breathing: Practice deep breathing exercises when you start to feel anxious. Breathe in slowly through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. Focusing on your breath can help you relax and reduce anxiety. Progressive muscle relaxation: This technique involves tensing and then releasing each muscle group in your body, one at a time. Start with your toes and work your way up to your head. This can help you become more aware of tension in your body and promote relaxation. Challenge negative thoughts: Anxiety often involves negative or catastrophic thinking patterns. When you notice yourself having negative thoughts, try to challenge them by asking yourself if there is evidence to support them. Look for alternative explanations or more balanced perspectives. Mindfulness and meditation: Practicing mindfulness and meditation can help you stay present and reduce anxiety. There are many resources available, such as guided meditation apps or online tutorials, that can assist you in learning these techniques. Regular exercise: Engaging in physical activity on a regular basis can help reduce anxiety and improve your overall well-being. Find an exercise or activity that you enjoy and make it a part of your routine. Seek support: Talk to someone you trust about your anxiety and panic attacks. Sharing your feelings with a supportive friend or family member can help alleviate some of the stress and provide emotional support. Avoid triggers when possible: Identify situations, people, or activities that tend to trigger your anxiety or panic attacks and try to minimize exposure to them. If avoidance is not possible, prepare yourself by using relaxation techniques or seeking professional guidance. Healthy lifestyle habits: Maintaining a balanced lifestyle can contribute to overall well-being and help manage anxiety. Get enough sleep, eat a nutritious diet, limit caffeine and alcohol intake, and prioritize self-care activities

It is not be taken over the counter on your own, in fact ideally after consulting a psychiatrist and getting your depression and mse done. Sertraline is a very good antidepressant but can cause certain unpleasant side effects too. So consult a psychiatrist and then get treated. Good luck.

Along with medicines, talk therapy is required. Only medicines will not solve depression. We need to identify the root cause of depression and solve it. I recommend doing exercises and yoga daily. Find good friends to share your feelings keep your self engaged in studies/work/ any hobbies good luck.

Accept that it is going to be difficult and you will not come out of it in an overnight - depression & anxiety are very poorly researched areas in the field of medicine. There is no definitive cure to this illness. Apart from that, depression is under-estimated. You will usually find people telling you to "not be depressed" or "ease down a bit" or "stay happy" when in reality it is very difficult, or rather, impossible to "not be depressed" or "to ease down" or "be happy" there is a very little chance that medication will be able to help you in which case you're lucky, else you'll have to resort to treating it all by yourself. Follow a healthy diet - eat healthy and do not under-estimate the power of unhealthy food. Unhealthy food plays an important role in depression. You don't see the effects of smoking right away but a few years down the line you realize you're in deep trouble and so it is with unhealthy eating practices. Following a healthy diet is extremely important and also a difficult one but it pays off. Exercise daily: ride a bicycle or go swimming or play tennis or jog or practice yoga; there are thousand other things you can do to keep yourself fit. Building muscles by gymming is not the only way to be physically fit. Regular exercise has been proven to reduce stress, ward off anxiety and feelings of depression, boost self-esteem and last but not the lease is it improves sleep. Keep healthy relationships: you do not want to hang around people who make you feel less worthy. Stay away, no matter what, stay away from negative people. There is a saying "you're the average of the five people you spend the most time with" which is absolutely true. Hang out with people who inspire you, who accept you for who you are, who are good at heart. Stay away from alcohol and drugs: alcohol and drugs are nothing but depressants. They'll make you feel better till you're intoxicated but once the alcohol/drug is out of your body you're going to feel more depressed than before and there's a pretty good chance that you'll want to resort to alcohol/drugs again to wash that feeling out. I have been addicted to alcohol and believe me when I tell you, it is the worst thing that can happen to you. Create a long term goal and break it into tiny milestones: the saying "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Sums it all up. Work towards your goal with thorough dedication. Books: you're on quora and I don't think you need to be told about the benefits of reading. Persistence: without persistence you'll never ever achieve any goals in life. Things go wrong all the time but you should not give up no matter what. As happens with depression something as trivial as missing out your morning workout will make you feel extremely bad. Things will be worse when things go really bad like having a break up or getting into an altercation with your best friend or getting fired, you'll have to be damn strong. Do not give up. It is going to be very difficult but keep trying until you succeed.
