I understand your concerns about medication safety, especially when taking multiple medications. Here's some general information about the medications you mentioned: Fluanxol (Flupentixol): This is an antipsychotic medication often used for schizophrenia or other similar conditions. It can also be used in lower doses for depression. Spenzo (Etizolam): This is a medication that is used for anxiety. It belongs to a class of drugs similar to benzodiazepines and has sedative and muscle-relaxant effects. Qutipin (Quetiapine): This is an antipsychotic medication often used to treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and as an add-on treatment for depression. Venlor XR (Venlafaxine): This is an antidepressant that belongs to the class of serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Clonotril (Clonazepam): This is a benzodiazepine used for anxiety and seizure disorders. Regarding your specific questions: a) Banned Status: The status of medications can vary by country and region. Fluanxol and Spenzo are not universally banned but may have restrictions in certain regions. It's important to check the regulations and guidelines in your specific location. b) Combining Medications: Taking multiple medications can increase the risk of side effects and drug interactions. It is essential to follow the advice of a healthcare professional who is familiar with your medical history and the specific medications you are taking. They can provide guidance on whether these medications can be taken together, appropriate dosages, and monitoring for side effects or interactions. Remember, it's crucial to consult with your healthcare provider before starting, stopping, or changing any medication regimen, especially when dealing with complex treatments involving multiple drugs. They can give you the most accurate and personalized advice based on your health needs and current medical condition.

As per research, a depressive episode should show improvement by minimum 9 months, provided it is treated adequately. And that is the recommended duration for taking medicines, when the patient is having depression for the first time. Regarding tapering of doses, it will be done gradually as per the patient's symptoms over a year. Please do not discontinue any psychiatric medicines suddenly or without supervision and always discuss openly with your psychiatrist in case of any side effects. It helps us in adjusting your doses accordingly.

Recovery from a psychiatric illness varies. It may take 2-8 weeks to achieve a significant amount of improvement in symptoms. To see the effects of a particular antidepressant, atleast 2-4 weeks may be required. In this particular case, the doses may be increased further to look for improvement. If there is no improvement even after that, then there would a need to change the antidepressant or try another treatment modality.

Better to avoid taking quitipin in the morning. Usually it takes 4 weeks, if there is no response consult psychiatrist again he can change sertraline to some other antidepressant or increase dosage of it.

The medicines will take 4 to 12 weeks to act. More than recovery there will be symptom reduction and possible control. Duration of treatment might vary between few months to even life time, depending on your father s condition. Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user, it is good that you are following your doctor's instructions. But in addition to that, I would like to know if you are aware of your disorder other than just anxiety. Along with a doctor's prescription kabir please take the help of a counselor who can help you in dealing with your thoughts and behavior. you are being treated for a serious condition that will take a long time to recover. The medication seems fine but you need intense therapy for a long time. Your cooperation is a must. You need to look at anger in particular because you have a mood disorder. There may be unresolved childhood issues concerning anger and perhaps fear too. Don't try anything without cooperating and consulting both the doctor and therapist counselor will put you on some cognitive behavior modification program and according to the improvement may suggest a review of the medication with the psychiatrist. you have not been dealing with your fears for a long time, perhaps. All unexpressed feelings will find some other way of expressing themselves in the body. These will lead to psychological problems of various kinds. You need to be trained in dealing with emotions and retain them as an ongoing process in life kabir. My best wishes to you. Take care

Dear Lybrate user whenever a psychiatrist prescribes the medicines, they do it based on your symptoms or condition. One cannot by themselves change or tweak the dosage. Also, these medicines do impact your sleeping and activity levels. Hence, it is recommended to follow lifestyle changes for better outcomes. Please follow a sleep hygiene routine. You need to declutter your sleeping area. Take a good bath before you sleep. Step - 1, calm down before your sleep - follow belly breathing and do some calming meditation. Step - 2, switch your phone to airplane mode so you can’t hear incoming messages, and remove all devices from your bedroom so you’re not tempted to reach for them before going to sleep or during the night. Step - 3, choose a nourishing novel that sets you up for sweet dreams rather than any heavy or disturbing reading material. Alternatively, inspiring biographies or affirmative self-help books can also get you in a restorative mood. You can also try increasing physical activity in your schedule like running, jogging, yoga, cycling, etc. Try following this routine regularly, slowly you will start experiencing changes in your life. It is also recommended that you seek counseling to get rid of anxiety-provoking thoughts and feelings and to develop healthy coping mechanisms. If things still persist you may reach out to us.

I am m/37, taking psychiatric meds like ventab dxt, qutipin, clofranil, ativan, librium and betacap for anxiety, depression and insomnia for almost a year. All of these are taken at night, give relief to aforementioned conditions, along with side effects. I would like to know if there is any ayurvedic supplement I can take in the morning/afternoon, that can help with giving strength to the nerves and may reduce side effects and weakness due to taking so many meds.

Dear user when we are aware about our problem we are able to control but we have to control it in a proper way. You are too young and taking these tablets, it’s not good for your physical as well as your mental health. If you don’t want to take medication for life time then please wake up yourself, medicines are not a perfect solution for mental health, you have to work on your own, your will power, your mind and thoughts. But due to certain reasons if you are on antidepressants you have to take some extra care of yourself. I donã¢â€â™t know what are the circumstances under which you are taking medicines, I want to know the whole details about your disorder. But I must say donã¢â€â™t depend on the medicines and donã¢â€â™t make it a habit for future. You need counseling session for a better control on this disorder and medicines. Medicines are not the only solution, counseling is a best option for you so that you could better understand yourself and save yourself from the side effects of medicines. Please call and discuss your problem in detail and then iã¢â€â™ll be able to help you better.
