Asked for male, 19 years old from Greater Noida
Please see a breast surgeon. They would examine you and if needed do a mammogram or an ultrasound. The most common cause of breast lump in a male is gynaecomastia. It is usually pubertal in young males and it regresses spontaneously. If it doesnât then can be treated with tamoxifen. Rarely surgery with excision of tissue with liposuction may be used for the same.
It could also be due to hormonal imbalance between testosterone and estrogen or increased prolactin level. The cause of imbalance is mostly drugs like anabolic steroids, some antiandeogenic drugs, antipsychotics, diuretics like spironolactone, omeprazole etc. Also testicular tumours and liver failure could lead to the hormonal imbalance. Other causes of lump in a male breast need to be ruled out like lipoma, fibroma, bony or chest wall tumour and rarely male breast cancer.
