Kidney damage can be prevented by maintaining good blood sugar and BP control. Apart from medications for diabetes and bp you should follow strict Diabetic diet, avoid oily, fatty and fried items with regular physical activity. Monitor your blood sugar and BP and serum creatinine regularly accordingly medications will be recommended. All the best.

There's no connection between Galvus Met 100 --post dinner and sleep and the sleep disturbance can be due to other diseases or you anxiety. You can take painkillers for pain (not for to long) and take glass of milk before bedtime.

Hello, Thanks for the query. From the glucose levels mentioned (both fasting & PP) your treatment appears to be good. It is also necessary to know the HbA1c%, which should be < 6.8%. As regards giving a diet I need to know current diet, extent of daily exercise being done, lipid profile etc. Then only I will be able to give the same. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. It is not possible to give an answer to the query. Because glucose level reduction depends on dietary intake and also dose of the drug. Plus there is no clear mention whether the glucose level was fasting one or after food or after how many hours of taking the drug. Thanks;

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Usually when kidney function is reduced and eGFR is <45 ml/minute, metformin may be discontinued. However, discontinuation does lead to blood glucose levels going haywire and may need increased Insulin dosage. So pleas let me know following: serum creatinine level, height, weight to calculate your eGFR. Or if already it is mentioned please do give that info. Because on discontinuing metformin glucose level tends go up. Thanks.

Please mention correct figures. You mentioned BP as 95/100 (please check it again because this is not correct and of I consider it as 100/95 nobody will prescribe medicine for it) Try to avoid unnecessary medication as you have mentioned you have one kidney. Mildly hogh cholesterol can be corrected with doet and regular exercise, which will be helpful in diabetes control also.
