Pantocid D Capsule

Manufacturer: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd
Medicine composition: Domperidone, Pantoprazole
Prescription vs.OTC: Prescription by Doctor not required

Pantocid D Capsule, a part of the dopamine antagonists group of drugs, prevents the tendency of vomiting and nausea in people suffering from gastrointestinal problems and also those who take certain medicines for Parkinson’s disease. The medicine tightens the muscles near the entrance of the stomach and relaxes the ones present at the exit. This action helps to speed up the passing of the food that you intake - from your stomach to your intestine, reducing the feeling of nausea and sickness, also preventing vomiting. It can also block, or reduce stimulation in the ‘vomiting centre’ of your brain, which will eventually reduce the feeling of nausea and vomiting.

Pantocid D Capsule is a part of the drug group known as dopamine antagonists. It can be used for treating the slow passage of food in your gastrointestinal tract, generally associated with gastritis or diabetes. For people suffering from this condition, Pantocid D Capsule can treat the symptoms of vomiting, nausea, bloating and feeling full. Apart from that, it can also prevent vomiting and nausea that is associated with Parkinson’s disease. The medication works by emptying your stomach quickly, reducing nausea. It also reduces or blocks stimulation in the part of the brain called the ‘vomiting centre’. The nerve messages coming from your gut will be suppressed and the feeling of nausea and vomiting is prevented. It is available in tablet or suspension form and has to be taken orally.

The usual dose of Pantocid D Capsule is 10 mg, which is generally taken 15-30 minutes prior to your meals. The maximum dose that is recommended for adults is 30 mg. The dose that would suit your body depends on your body weight, other medicines that you are currently taking and your health condition. Ensure that you take Pantocid D Capsule only in that amount as instructed by the doctor. In case you miss a dose, you can take it later. However, do not take two doses together to make up for the previous one that has been missed. Overdose can cause disorientation, light-headedness, losing muscle or balance control or difficulty in talking.

You are advised not to take Pantocid D Capsule if you have the following conditions:

Ceruvin A is required for a duration of 6 months-12 years post angioplasty, depending upon the type of stents and the disease you had your treating cardiologist may advice you to continue it for longer duration. Eventually youu will need to continue with atleast one anti-platelet and lipid lowering drug. A healthy diet, daily walking for 40 mins and good BP and sugar control are also essential. And you should follow up with your treating cardiologist atleast 6 monthly for medication review and symptom evaluation.

Facts and Myths about Gall Bladder diseases

FAIS, FIAGES, MS - General Surgery, MBBS
General Surgeon, Noida
Play video

Hi, I’m Dr Nitin Shah. I’m a senior consultant at Fortis hospital, Noida. I’m a laparoscopic surgeon. I do all sorts of abdomen surgeries. Today we are going to be talking about the gallbladder disease, in which there are stones formed in the gallbladder. We need to understand that patients can initially be absolutely asymptomatic. The patient can have no pain or any discomfort. Many times it is detected by routine health examinations when the patient undergoes an ultra sound of the abdomen.

The initial stages after asymptomatic, the patient starts having little bloating in the abdomen which is commonly referred as gas and acidity. So people have a tendency of neglecting it and keep on taking some antacid or pantocid or Digene and this kind of stuff to suppress the symptoms. So after dyspepsia, the patient starts having pain in the abdomen. This pain can initially very simple pain. It can even progress into severe pain. It starts usually in the pre-gastric region, upper abdomen and goes to the back. This is very typical of a bilicuric and increases after any fatty meal like any extra oily friend. This kind of stuff when we eat, the patient has more pain and then depending on the severity of the inflammation, even patients are known to have pus in the gallbladder, thereby, increasing the mobility of the disease.

Some stones can slip from the gallbladder into the bile duct thereby obstructing the bile duct and producing something that is called obstructive jaundice. In which the patient has severe pain and has visible jaundice also. These stones not only block the bile duct but also can block the pancreas duct thereby causing something called as gall stone pancreatic. So, this is another very severe problem. As we all know, gall bladder cancer is quite common these days. In 4% of the cases, the gall stones are the causes of gallbladder cancer. So, for a simple disease like a gall bladder stone, if not treated at the immediate time this can land up into very very severe problems. now once the diagnosis is confirmed it is a simple surgery called as lap coly cystectomy in which we remove the gallbladder in very small three to four cuts that is called the laparoscopic surgery. The same surgery was previously done with a big cut that’s called the laparotomy, cutting open the whole abdomen and then removing the gall bladder. Now it is done by three or four small cuts. In fact, my specialization is getting the same surgery done by a single incision in the ablycus. In which there is one cut in the navel and no cut anywhere else in the abdomen and hence the surgical cut is hardly seen. Probably, even after two months, the surgeon will also not be able to make out whether any surgery is done on the patient or not. The scar is hardly seen and it is very cleverly hidden in the ablycus.

So, for any further information or any question that you want to ask I am available at lybrate.

You can log onto lybrate or even text me or video chat with me on lybrate and I will be more than happy to clear all your doubts regarding any surgical disease and help you in the best way I can.

How to make your menstrual cycles regular- 8 simpke ways

MBBS (Gold Medalist, Hons), MS (Obst and Gynae- Gold Medalist), DNB (Obst and Gynae), Fellow- Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (ACOG, USA), FIAOG, MRCOG (London, UK)
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
How to make your menstrual cycles regular- 8 simpke ways

How to make your menstrual cycles regular?

First, you should know what is meant by the word 'irregular'? In most women period movers at an interval of 28 to 30 days. But it is said to be normal if it happens every 21-35 days. That means you should have periods not more frequently than every 3 weeks or not less frequently than every 5 weeks. But if you had previous cycles at an interval of every 4 weeks but now you are having periods every 5 weeks, that is ABNORMAL, although it is occurring every 35 days. In other words, change in interval up to 7 days is normal, nit beyond that. For example, if you had periods every 30 days previously and for last 2 months it is happening every 33 days or every 25 days, then it's normal. But if it happens at an interval of more than 37 days (30 + 7) or less than 23 days (30- 7) then it's, of course, abnormal.

So what are the things you can do for regular periods?

1. Normal weight
Ideal weight varies according to the height. We express it in terms of BMI (Body Mass Index) that is the weight in Kg divided by the square of the height in centimeters. Ideal BMI should be between 19 to 25. If it's more than 25, reduce weight by diet and exercise. IT can resume normal menstruation without any drugs. IF despite your sincere efforts, you are unable to lose weight or even after normalization of weight menstruation remains irregular, you must consult your gynaecologist for treatment.
On the other hand, very low BMI can also cause irregular menses. Treatment is weight gain. This is often seen in athletes and they are even at the risk of losing bone calcium because if excessive exercise and strict diet control. If gaining weight does not help, you must consult your doctor for having regular periods.

2. Stress, Anxiety, Tension, Depression
These are an inevitable part of modern lifestyle. These may not only cause mental problems but will also cause physical problems by altering the hormone levels. The result is an abnormal menstrual cycle. Try to avoid them by relaxation, counseling and if necessary by taking help of doctors.

3. Thyroid disorders
The problem of the thyroid gland is common in females and causes abnormal weight and changes the action of many hormones. The result is irregular menstruation. So if you feel lethargy, extreme cold, weakness or increased weight, do not forget to check thyroid status after consulting a doctor.

4. Pituitary disorders
The pituitary gland is a gland situated inside the brain that controls hormone of other glands of the body. If there is soMe tumour or soNe abnormalities in its function, there will be high level of prolactin hormone secretion or there will be a deficiency of hormones like FSH and LH. As a result, ovaries cannot produce enough hormones and you will have irregular menstruation. So in the case of abnormal menstruation, please Check your prolactin level.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is common nowadays. Apart from causing abnormal menstruation, it increases the risk of infertility, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and even cancer. It is diagnosed by clinical features, hor tests and ultrasonography. It may also cause weight gain, male like the growth of hairs in body and oily skin. The treatment is weight control and drugs to regularize menses. This is particularly important in young women teenagers, in whom timely treatment can prevent many serious consequences.

6. Premature Ovarian Failure
In some women, menopause can come earlier and irregular menstruation may be the early indication of this. This may be followed by permanent cessation if periods. So if you are planning for family expansion but have irregular menses, do not delay pregnancy.

7. Problems in uterus
Excessive trauma to the uterus by repeated surgical abortion or infections like STD are tuberculosis can damage the lining of the uterus. The result is irregular menses followed by total cessation of menses. But this problem can be easily treated if you consult your gynecologist in time.

8. Systemic diseases and drugs
Irregular menSes should never be ignored. Sometimes it may be because if so e undiagnosed diseases like diabetes, diseases if heart, liver, kidney, chest etc. Often it may be the side effect if the drugs you are taking- like antacids containing domperidone, psychiatric drugs, Steroids or chemotherapy.

In conclusion, irregular menstruation may sometimes warn you about serious diseases and may be associated with infertility and early menopause. Stay healthy, have healthy diet and lifestyle, maintain a normal weight, get rid of tension and attend your doctor's clinics in time.
