About Ciplox D Eye/Ear Drops

Ciplox D Eye/Ear Drops are indicated for the treatment of bacterial infection of eyes and ears. It is a combination of Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone. This medication stops the growth of the bacteria.

It is also prescribed to treat post-operative inflammatory conditions of the eye, Acute Otitis Media (AOM) and Acute Otitis Externa (AOE) [infection of ears].

    Method of administration
  • For Ophthalmic use: One or two drops of this medication to be instilled into the conjunctival sac at an interval of 4 - 6 hours.
  • For Otic use: Four drops of the medication is needed to be instilled into the affected ear, twice daily for seven days.

To instil the eye drops one must wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Also, check the dropper tip to make sure that it is not chipped or cracked. Make sure that you hold the dropper (tip down) with the other hand, as close to the eye as possible without touching it.

It is suggested to close your eye for 2 to 3 minutes and tip your head down as though looking at the floor. Try not to blink or squeeze your eyelids.

    Ciplox D Eye/Ear Drops functions by inhibiting DNA gyrase, and a type II topoisomerase, topoisomerase IV, necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division. It also works by entering the cell nucleus and get bound to the DNA. This induces the natural effects of biological hormones.
