Aricep 5 MG Tablet, a cholinesterase inhibitor, is used to treat a brain disorder that affects the ability to remember, communicate, think clearly, and perform daily activities and may cause changes in mood and personality in people who have Alzheimer's disease. It improves mental function by increasing the amount of certain chemicals in the brain. However, it does not cure Alzheimer’s disease completely. Possible side effects of this medicine include loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, gastrointestinal upset, vomiting, diarrhoea or muscle cramping.

Certain conditions may require you to be extra careful while taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you have these conditions :

  • Pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • Are taking any other prescribed or over the counter medicines.
  • Are allergic to medicines, foods, or other substances.
  • A history of certain heart problems, stomach or bowel problems, liver or kidney problems, lung or breathing problems, muscle problems, low thyroid hormone levels, or urinary blockage.
  • Brain lesions or tumours, a recent head injury, or a history of seizures
  • Have Parkinson disease or metabolism problems

Aricep 5 MG Tablet comes as a tablet and an orally disintegrating tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food, in the evening just before bedtime. Your doctor may prescribe to you a low dose initially to decrease the risk of side effects and gradually increase your dose after 4 to 6 weeks. Your doctor may increase your dose again 3 or more months later. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it.

Aricep 5 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease which is a progressive brain disorder characterized by memory loss and difficulty in thinking.
Not recommended in patients with known allergy to Aricep 5 MG Tablet.
In addition to its intended effect, Aricep 5 MG Tablet may cause some unwanted effects too. In such cases, you must seek medical attention immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. Please inform your doctor if you experience any adverse reaction to the medication.

Carvedilol Moderate
These medicines may lower the heart rate and blood pressure if taken together. Inform the doctor if you are receiving antihypertensives like carvedilol, metoprolol, and nifedipine. Any symptoms of dizziness, irregular heartbeat should be informed to the doctor. Dose adjustment or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.
Oxcarbazepine Moderate
Inform the doctor if you are receiving oxcarbazepine, carbamazepine as these medicines will decrease the effect of Aricep 5 MG Tablet. Any symptoms of worsening of the condition should be reported to the doctor. Dose adjustments are to be made based on the clinical condition.
Tramadol Major
These medicines may increase the risk of seizures if taken together. The risk is more in the elderly population with the history of head injury or seizures. Any symptoms of seizures should be informed to the doctor. The dose of either of the medicines should be adjusted based on the clinical condition.

You need to be thoroughly evaluated for cognitive deficits, Has MRI brain been taken. The psychiatrist must have treated you long to arrive at this combination, so discuss with him/ her the problems you have, am sure he/ she will be able to address them as well. Good luck.

However, after having the medicine after a while he vomited and if this is side effects, how long will this side effect go on. Or how to manage the side effect. Will be appreciated for your help. Yes. Nausea and vomiting can be side effects of cholinesterase inhibitors and donepezil (donetaz) is one of the cholinesterase inhibitors. It would be advisable to start at a lower dose which is available as Donepezil 5 mg tablet. There are other alternatives too. Please discuss with your doctor who prescribed it or you contact me for further advise.

He might be having dementia as well with parkinson disease, tab donepezil might help, consult a psychiatrist nearby for help
