Any injury, damage or pressure on the sciatic nerve that runs down the lower backside of the body towards the back of both the legs, causes pain resulting in Sciatica. In a severe case of Sciatica, the doctor will conduct nerve tests and imaging tests such as MRI and CT scan to determine the cause of Sciatica.
HOW IS SCIATICA TREATED?
Conventional treatment is most commonly advised with medications that control the pain along with physical therapy. Steroid injections may also be given. Surgery is an option to consider when the conventional methods do not work.
