Hii, cosvate gm contains superpotent steroid known as clobetasol which can cause multiple side effects. Steroids when used on face can cause multiple, irreversible side effects which includes skin atrophy (thinning), telangiectasia, erythema (redness), acneform eruptions, hair growth, erosions, infection etc. On prolonged use, your skin gets habituated to the steroid, now sudden stopping will lead to photosensitivity, extreme dryness, burning sensation. Management of steroid dependent facies is tricky and we need to know the frequency and time period of application. Also we need to look at your face to see if any side effects have occured, your skin type and to judge how and what topical steroid withdrawal symptoms will occur and manage them simultaneously. Please avoid self medication and consult a dermatologist regarding proper management of your skin issue.

You may be suffering from tinea cruris which is fungal infection of the inner thighs, groin and buttocks area. It is also called jock itch. It can be treated by taking four to six weeks of anti fungal treatment which includes tablets along with creams. Do not use soap over that area. Mistreatment with over the counter steroid containing creams like fourderm, panderm, quadriderm, dermi5, cloben g betnovate, dermikem oc, candid b etc lead to repeated case of recurrence and also side effects due to application. Do not use steroid containing combination creams. Please contact me using online consult option with photos for detailed prescription. Do not delay treatment as it may spread further on your body and also to other people living in the household.

The condition most often occurs when people wear tight-fitting clothing that traps in moisture. Wash the affected skin two to three times a day. Keep the affected area dry. Avoid excess affected skin irritation by wearing 100% cotton underwear. Avoid fabric softeners, bleaches, or harsh laundry detergents. Wash your workout clothes, underwear, socks, and towels after each use. Keep your affected area, inner thighs, and buttocks clean and dry, especially after you exercise and shower. After showering or bathing, dry the irritated affected area by gently patting it with a towel. Be sure to dry your skin thoroughly. Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in two cups of warm water. Wash the infected area with this solution and allow it to dry on its own. Another option is to apply a mixture of equal parts of white vinegar and coconut oil on the affected skin. Like hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol can help kill off the fungus that's on the surface level of the skin. You can apply it directly to the affected area Listerine: It has antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties, which help treat skin problem Here are some tips to help you manage the infection: Avoid using oily skin products. Reduce your exposure to the sun. Exposure to the sun may trigger or worsen an episode, and a tan makes the rash more visible. Do not wear tight clothing. Wear breathable fabrics, such as cotton, to decrease sweating.

I am infected with ringworm on my thighs and buttock area for very long time. I have used so many medications but it goes and back. Currently I am using griseofulvin 250 mg twice daily, levocetirizine daily, and kt 5 derm since last eleven days. It appears it is improving. Is it better to take these medicines? For how long should I take? I am also suffering of griseofulvin side effect like headache. Should I take fluconazole capsule biweekly or continue with griseofulvin? Should I also replace ointment with lobate gm or cosvate gm or continue with kt 5 derm? Does levocetirizine help in this problem? Please help regarding this I will be very much thankful to you.

Report received after 3 weeks. Unless you take strict precautions about good personal hygiene, preferably twice cold water bath, avoiding polyfibre and denim clothes, use of cotton clothes, care about contacts in surroundings, use of antifungal bath soap, medicated antifungal dusting powder for a long long time, it will recur. For proper selection about the oral medication and local creams etc be undeer constant supervision of same good skin specialist. Expect long period and recurrence.

You should first stop cosvate gm. It contains a powerful steroid. It will reduce your skin immunity and strengthen fungus. You should stop it n visit a dermatologist as you need powerful oral antifungals. Completing the course is also very important.

Few things to do in fungal infection of skin 1. Consult a dermatologist only 2. Take medicines as doctor advice 3. Don't stop medicine on its own 4. Always wear loose, cotton clothes 5. Wash your clothes (undergarments) with hot water and dry in sun 6. Take bath twice a day 7. Don't apply any cream which contains steroids such as betnovate, tenovate, panderm, quadriderm, dermi 4, cosvate any many more.
