Limit alcohol consumption – Regular or excess consumption of alcohol increases blood pressure leading to damaging consequences. Limit your alcohol intake to 21 units per week (for men) and 14 units per week (for women). Controlling your alcohol needs will reduce the ill effects of hypertension.
Quit smoking – Smoking increases blood pressure levels swiftly. It is advisable for hypertension patients to quit smoking altogether.
Do not consume processed food and salt – Not all the salt that we consume comes from cooked food. Most of it comes from the processed and canned edibles. Hypertension patients should avoid eating junk and processed foods.
