Dialation and Tortuation are called varicosity of the vein. That means when a vein got inflate then it changes it's direction but not the target. Actually, the vein is made by two layers one is TUNICA INTERNA and another is TUNICA EXTERNA wherein artery gets extra layer called TUNICA ADVENSIA OR MEDIA. So tortuation does not see in an artery due to thickness. The vericosity occurs due to long-standing obstruction of venous return to antigravitation.

Actually, heavy work where muscular pumping occurs frequently and the result exertion of the group of muscles,but another side muscle can't pump again and blood stage repeatedly in the vein,if it has happened for few months even years then occures this condition. Long standing mainly sufferers Traffic police,long exercise mainly sufferers cycle rickshaw drivers or workers.
When it occurs in leg, take ur leg raise just give a pillow under the legs it helps in venous return,mostly pain get severe at night. The confirmative test is BRODITENDELENBERG'S test and operation in the same name in case of legs. When it in tastes then it is called VARICOCIL,the operation is PALAMO operation. When it occurs in RECTAL vein then it is called HAEMARROID or PILES ,the operation is HAEMAROIDECTOMY it may be due to Hepatic or Spleenic venous engorgement. When to see this vericosity in carotid vein at the neck then it indicates CCE or CHF or congestive heart failure.Blood Pressure,ECG ,ECHO(3D DOPPLER) and Lipid profile should be measured in the case of carotid vericosity mind it this vericosity in relation to heart does not give pain rather pain feels in heart region sometimes.
