The summertime is here along with the many problems of skin as well as hair. The two biggest enemies of hair, sweat and grime are mostly active during this season exaggerating hair problems like hair fall, dandruff and so on. The scorching rays of the sun are also extremely harmful for your hair but unfortunately there are no sunscreens for the hair available yet. Hence what can you possibly do to protect your hair from the heat, grime and sweat to keep your hair healthy during this period of summer?

Given below are a few ways to protect your hair from the ill effects of this season and to keep your hair healthy as well as glowing:

  • The first thing you should remember during this season is that the sweat in your scalp attracts dirt, dust and all kinds of grime. Accumulation of these would close the pores at the roots of your hair, making your hair weak and leading to hair fall, dandruff as well as rashes. Hence it is important to wash your hair with a mild shampoo regularly. Regularly means every day, if possible, or at least every other day to keep your scalp squeaky clean.
  • To protect your hair from the scorching rays of the sun that causes early graying of hair, be sure to carry an umbrella or at least cover your hair with a cotton scarf when you go out into the sun.
  • It is also important to tie your hair to avoid your hair getting into contact with the sun and outdoor heat as much as possible.
  • But do not make the mistake of tying wet hair as it would weaken the roots of the hair leading to hair fall.
  • Wet hair attracts dust like sweaty hair too. Hence it is important to dry your scalp and hair after washing before going out into the sun during summertime.
  • Avoid using hair dryers if possible since dryers do not only dry the water but the heat harms the hair irrevocably. Towel drying is the best way to dry your wet hair while keeping your hair healthy.
  • Use a soft towel and do not rub vigorously. Since during the summertime there is more dirt accumulation, make sure you clean your towels regularly as well.
  • Last of all drink lots of fluid and avoid spicy food as much as possible to keep your hair healthy and glowing.
