Homeopathy Remedies That Can Help With Winter Problems!
Postcard views of snow clad mountains may be picturesque but for most people winter brings along its own host of issues. These range from colds and dry skin to chill blains and joint pains. Homeopathy is a root form of treatment for these seasonal issues as it focuses not only on the symptoms presented but on the person’s overall physical and mental health as well. Hence two people with the same complaint may benefit from different homeopathic remedies. For this reason, it not advisable to self-medicate with homeopathy. On the whole, homeopathy has negligible side effects and hence is suitable for infants, children, adults and the elderly.
Some common winter complaints and the homeopathic remedies that can be used to treat them are:
- Bronchitis: Bronchitis refers to the inflammation of the tubes that carry air to and from the lungs. In its early stages, this disease can be treated with Ferrum Phos. This remedy can also be used in cases where the condition worsens at night and with motion. Bronchitis that is better in open air and during the day can be treated with Aconite. Bronchitis that causes dryness of the mucous membranes can be treated with Bryonia Alba.
- Chilblains: Chilblains are a common winter complaint that affects extremities like the fingers and toes. This is caused by the constriction of blood vessels due to the cold. Chilblains that are aggravated by exposure to cold air can be treated with Cistus or Rhus Tox while Pulsatilla or Sulpher can be used to treat chilblains that worsen on exposure to warmth.
- Common Cold: Cooling of temperatures often leads to a spike in common cold cases. Colds can range from being mildly irritating to severe enough to affect your day to day life. Aconite is a great homeopathic remedy for common colds that worsen at night or in the cold and are better in the open air. Colds that are accompanied by sneezing and a burning sensation in the mucous membranes can be treated with Arsenicum album. The first stages of a cold can also be treated with Quillaya.
- Depression: Winters can be gloomy and aggravate symptoms of depression. Ammonium carb is often prescribed to treat depression that causes weeping and is worse after sundown. Suicidal depression can be treated with Aurum Met and depression accompanied by irritability can be treated with Helonias dioica. Ignatia is a good homeopathic remedy for mood swings while depression with loss of memory can be treated with Plumbum.
