Ayurveda - Hair fall treatment

When it comes to skin care and hair, neem has a number of benefits. Using this herb regularly on the scalp strengthens the hair follicle roots and promotes hair growth. It also improves blood circulation. In addition to treating hair loss, neem can be used to treat dandruff, dryness of the scalp, eczema, psoriasis, scaliness and excessive sebum production. It also helps fight against lice. Boil a handful of neem leaves in two cups of water and strain once cooled. Use this neem-infused water as a final rinse for your hair after shampooing and conditioning.

Soap nuts or Ritha promote the growth of hair and thicken hair while improving hair texture. Ritha Shampoo is very mild and hence can be used daily without the fear of losing natural oils from your scalp. To make your own ritha shampoo, begin by soaking a handful of Ritha in 2 cups of water overnight. Boil these nuts in the same water the next morning for 15 minutes. Once cooled, strain the liquid and use it in place of your regular shampoo. For lathering, shampoo your hair twice with this shampoo.

When translated Shikakai means fruit for hair. Shikaki is known for its antioxidant content that helps restore scalp health and helps treat hair fall. When combined with water, it can be used as a shampoo and will not damage the natural oils in your hair. Regular use of shikakai helps fight dandruff, increases the lustre of your hair and detangles it. To make your own shampoo, rinse your hair with 6 tablespoons of dried Shikaki powder mixed with 2 cups of water.

Methi or fenugreek seeds are an excellent remedy for hair fall. It can also be used to treat dandruff and improve scalp health. To use methi for hair fall treatment, begin by roasting 2 tables spoons of methi seeds. This must then be ground into a powder and mixed with 2-3 table spoons of water to form a paste. Apply this paste to the scalp and leave for 20 minutes. A methi hair mask can be used twice a week.
