What is Urinary Tract Infection?

Urinary tract infection is known to affect at least 1 out of 2 women. In most cases, it is usually caused by the E Coli virus that spreads from the large intestine into the urinary tract. The urethra gets affected in this condition as it is the tube which is closest to the anus, which makes it susceptible for the spread of this virus. One should keep checking for the symptoms of UTI, as it can be repeated over the years.
What are the symptoms of UTI?

There are a number of symptoms that come with this infection. To begin with, one will feel constant pressure on the uterus which will make you take frequent trips to the bathroom with the intense urge to urinate. Further, the urine will mostly be cloudy looking and foul smelling along with discharge. Also, there will be pain and cramps in one s abdomen and back along with fatigue and constant fever. When one encounters a combination of two or more such symptoms, then it is time to see a doctor regarding the same.
Wiping from front to back can prevent UTI.

Most doctors recommend wiping from the front to the back as it takes the bacteria further away from the opening of the bladder. If one wipes from the back to the front, then there is a chance of directly transporting the bacteria from the anus to the vaginal opening, which can then cause the infection along the tube. It is important to keep the area clean and dry at all times so that the bacteria does not spread and travel easily.
Do not drink too much of water when you have UTI.

When one is suffering from UTI, it is imperative to drink lots of water as this can flush out the toxins and the bacteria from one's system. This will help in quick recovery as well. Also, during an infection, it is important to keep the system well hydrated at all times. One can have plenty of cranberry juice to treat UTI.
Antibiotics are prescribed in order to treat UTI.

The doctor will start by prescribing antibiotics for the infection so that the bacteria may be killed. The antibiotics basically puncture the body of the bacteria so that the same may not grow and breed. You should take antacids with antibiotics as the latter may lead to indigestion and acidity. Further, one must complete the entire dosage of the antibiotics for the UTI to go away completely.
