Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the most common method of treatment used to tackle the problem of HIV. The medication prevents the virus from growing and spreading when taken in combination, thereby slowing down the disease.

Those who are HIV positive can have as much sex as they like provided they use protection at all times. Research has even shown that an active and healthy sex life can help in treatment by boosting the immune system.

Being HIV positive affects body's T-cell count. This can further deteriorate through the consumption of raw meats such as sushi or oysters and dairy products that contain bacteria, fungi or molds of any kind.

Although the transmission of HIV can occur through any kind of penetrative sex, the greatest degree of risk comes with anal sex. This is because there are more chances of bleeding and tearing of skin during anal penetration which allows for easier transfer of the virus.
