Infidelity - What Can Lead To It?

Many men think that courting ends when they get married or are in a stable relationship with their significant others. However, women need to be courted on a regular basis from time to time to keep their interests alive and to feel appreciated in the relationship. Most men tend to take their women for granted which leads to feelings of abandonment. In this case, they may choose to look for emotional support and appreciation elsewhere, which may turn into physical cheating.

In fact, the very opposite is true. Most women and many men may cheat due to low self-esteem. This low self-esteem may be caused due to problems in the relationship or due to the nature of the person. Insecurity also gives rise to low self-esteem. When you are insecure or don t feel good about yourself, you seek validation from others. When you have a caring partner but are bored of their company, you may want to seek reassurance and validation from other fleeting relationships which thus result in cheating.

In the case of many relationships, both women and men tend to use a sexual encounter to bring a relationship to an end which empowers them and gives them the strength to call it off. However, when one partner admits to the other that he or she cheated on them, the other partner is also tempted to do the same to return the favor as a form of revenge.

Emotional intimacy may also be considered as cheating and in fact women have been known to be bigger emotional cheats than physical cheats. However, many emotional relationships also turn physical as they become more intense. Emotional cheating is also considered cheating as some of the innermost thoughts which you are only supposed to share with your significant other is also shared with another person.
