Sex - How Vital Is It?

While being a giver is a good thing, if you are the one who is constantly giving and not receiving anything or very little in return, it could be a sign of an unhealthy balance in the relationship. A healthy relationship should have an equal amount of giving and taking rather than one partner doing all the giving. If you are doing all the giving, it could also mean you are a people pleaser and have self-esteem issues which need to be worked upon.

If both or one of the partners can t control their sexual energy during the act, then it may signal problems of balance within the relationship. When you are in a trusting and healthy relationship, sexual energy, even if raw and uninhibited, is always under control. While great sex can have a little roughness and dominance of one partner over the other, they should be able to tone it down if one of the partners doesn t like it without feeling hurt or thwarted. This is a great sign of balance and trust as far as physical intimacy in a relationship is concerned.

Faking sexual pleasure initially can be a decent method to build your partner up. However doing it in the long run or having recently developed it after other issues within a long-term relationship isn t a good sign at all. It usually signifies the breakdown of trust and communication where you cannot express yourself or talk about your desires freely. It would thus make sense to resolve the issues outside of the bedroom first.

While having sex after a fight is sometimes a good way to reconnect with each other through physical means only, doing it every time isn t a sign of a good relationship. While physical intimacy is very important, the issues that caused you to fight with your partner in the first place will still remain. These are mental, emotional and psychological conflicts. Having make-up sex every time will only result in sweeping it under the carpet and hiding the problems which will manifest in a bigger form later.
