Hi Doctor, my daughter is 2 and half years old, she never eat properly, she loves to eat only chocolates, I give her junior horlicks to drink every day. I am really worried about her growth. She is also on breast feed still. I really do not know what to do please help me for her good diet.

Hi lybrate-user, you could give chocolates as a reward in case your daughter eats properly for a week. You could make colorful foods like a colorful fruit yoghurt, fruit custard, soups in winters or fruit shakes. Try making her diet as nutritious as possible by adding veggies and cereals. Do not force feed her. Give her small portions to finish and give frequent and small meals. You could start supplement powders to be added in milk like pediasure etc. Get her weight and height checked regularly on your pediatrician visit and maintain her growth record in order to understand her pattern of growth. Best is have natural diet. Processed powders lose a lot of nutrition during their processing. Almonds and walnuts are best for brain development, take 10-15 dry fruits daily. Take three fruits daily. Green vegetables also help a lot.

Hello, Short heightedness can be due to heredity reasons (genetics), lack of proper nutrition: lacking in essential vitamins and minerals, substance abuse, lack of sufficient physical activity, endocrinal/hormonal problems, mostly related to hypofunctional pituitary gland. Also, problems with bone formation and calci?cation are responsible for shorter stature and built. Human Growth Hormone (HGH) also plays a determining part. HGH is secreted by pituitary gland and it is directly connected to how long your bones and cartilages grow. Here are some home remedies that you should include right away to increase your height naturally: ASHWAGANDHA: Ashwagandha can indirectly influence the release of HGH and helps the body in overall development. Take 1 tablespoon of Ashwagandha powder with a glass of warm milk (preferably with 1 tablespoon of shakkar) at night before going to bed. OTHER HERBS: You can also try some other beneficial herbs like shilajit, shatavari, guduchi, amla, and guggul. BALANCED DIET: Eat a High protein diet with chicken breasts and chicken soup, Bone broth, fish, eggs, Milk and other dairy products. Also, eat all seasonal fruits and vegetables (especially broccoli, spinach and turnips). CALCIUM: Calcium is a height booster as your bones are primarily made of calcium.
