Hello dear lybrate-user, hi Warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query thoroughly.* There is no need to rush to hospital, can safely apply Neosporin ointment on the operative part after cleaning it with antiseptic liquids as dettol, which gives extra ordinary results in terms of healing.* Then take regular follow up with your doctor when told. Hope this clears your query. Wishing you fine recovery. Welcome for any further assistance. Regards take care.

Hello lybrate-user, your friend must have had a minor ligament injury. A bandge may not be needed, use ice pack and local pain gel application for pain relief. He has to be investigated for ligament injury if his symptoms persist.
